January’s Cupcake of the Month - Chai Spice
Happy 2012 everyone!
December was SO busy for us, that we were actually hoping for a slower January - but that is just not going to be the case.
Today we delivered dozens of cupcakes for January's Cupcake of the Month club. This delivery included two flavors, Chai Spice and Vanilla. The chai has been a huge hit! We've been getting tons of great feedback all day. I'm always surprised when I drop off cupcakes in the morning and get an email or text commenting on the flavor - don't you know you're supposed to wait until after lunch?? One of my personal rules is "no cupcakes for breakfast"!
We used a homemade spice mixture which included cardamom, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, a pinch of black pepper, and star anise for decoration. I think the anise is just so gorgeous, I've been looking for a cupcake to use them with.
There is tons of news, of course. In December we moved into a new kitchen and so far we love it! This weekend we'll be baking for a wedding as well as participating in the Cupcake Challenge on Sunday, and we'll be announcing a special Valentine's Day delivery box next week.
Next month the Cupcake of the Month will be Red Velvet, and on the subscription page you can see all of the flavors up through June. No idea what we'll have for July yet - lots of yummy options. We're considering doing a "Baker's choice" surprise flavor once a year (after all, when you get your vegetable CSA box you don't know what veggies you'll be getting) and it might also be fun to have a "subscriber's choice" and have everyone vote on their favorites.
